From the recording Mean Little River
I thought this was a nice end song for the album. Quite whimsical and gentle. Look at the flowers of the field, they neither sow not reap...but maybe they do!
Lyrics
Flower Song
Guitar
Verse 1
D (+ note B) G D
I’m a little flower just working all day,
D (+ note B) G D
From morning till night I never stop to play,
D (+ note B) G D
I stand here all the time with my feet in the clay
D (+ note B) G D
And no one ever listens to what I have to say.
E A D
And I wonder oh I wonder why.
Verse 2
In the morning when the sun comes over the hill
I spread my arms and my petals all fill.
They shine like gold in the sun’s bright rays
And I have to do this all of my days
And I wonder, oh I wonder why.
Verse 3
And you, you have nothing to do
Just wander around and pick up your food.
You smell me and you touch me until I am sore
And sometimes I’m thinking I can’t take no more
And I wonder, oh I wonder why.
Instrumental verse
Verse 4
I’m a little flower just working all day
No one ever listens to what I have to say.
One time you’ll come and find I’m not here
All traces and memories quite disappeared
And I wonder, oh I wonder why
Repeat last line.
